FAQs

Frequently asked questions

WHAT IS THE BEST WEATHER FOR A KITE DAY?
While the kites will still fly in rain, its not much fun!  Very strong winds can cause problems as the kites will fly very fast. Tying a plastic bag or similar to the tail will help by slowing the kite down.  No wind, or very light winds are not a problem and the children will enjoy running with their kite to create their own wind.
WHAT DO WE NEED TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN PLANNING A KITE DAY?
We have had our kite lines tested in accordance with toy safety standards to ensure they are not electrically conductive even when wet.  However, electricity and phone companies DO NOT take kindly to kites wrapping around their overhead lines.

Problems can occur when children do not watch where they are running with their kites.  Look-out for roads and ditches AND ESPECIALLY SIGNS ON POLES in your flying area.

HOW LONG DOES DELIVERY TAKE?
We normally despatch within 2 days and either use DPD next day delivery OR for smaller orders we use Royal Mail (usually First Class recorded delivery).

Occasionally we are away at kite festivals and delivery may take an extra day or two.  If your kites are urgent, please let us know and we will arrange for this.

If your school will be closed for Half Term or the like, please give us re-opening dates so we can arrange delivery on a suitable date.

HOW SECURE IS MY PAYMENT INFO?
Paypal is Paypal and out of our control, however it seems to be one of the most secure payment systems there are.  In line with the requirements of our card provider, we keep ABSOLUTELY NO ON-LINE RECORD OF CARD DETAILS AND NEVER HAVE DONE.  For this reason it is impossible that payment details can be hacked.  We NEVER ask for card details in any online form except via Paypal.  If you have any worries at all, call us and pay by card over the phone, or send us a cheque.
CAN I ORDER KITES FOR BEAVERS, CHURCH GROUPS, BIRTHDAY PARTIES etc?
Certainly.  Our kites are very successful for these activities.  The only problems we have had with these activities is making sure that someone will be there to take delivery of your order.  If there may be a problem, remind us to use Royal Mail so you can collect it from the Post Office if required, OR give us clear instructions to leave by the rear door, with a neighbour etc.
HOW BIG ARE THE KITES?
Our kites are designed to fly in a very large wind range.  The kites are about 300mm wide and 350mm high.  This is large enough to fly in very light winds, but will not pull too strongly in stronger winds. In very strong winds they will fly very fast, so adding a plastic bag or similar tied to the tail may help slow them down and make them easier to fly.
WHAT AGES ARE THESE KITES MOST SUITABLE FOR?
Children from 3 to 99 enjoy flying these kites.  (Yes we do supply some organisations that work with the elderly).  HOWEVER, children under six will need some help making their kite.  Many older children will need some help tying their line to their kite.

One great ‘community’ solution is to have older children work with the little ones on the day.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THESE KITES FOR A PICNIC?
Absolutely.  Take the box and open it up and make your kites.  Nothing else is needed.
ARE THESE KITE KITS MADE IN THE UK?
Yes, except for a few components such as tape, handles and hole punches, everything is made the UK.
CAN WE DECORATE OUR KITES?
Yes, with marker pens like Sharpies and POSCA.  However,  our assorted colour packs are designed with so many possible colour combinations that we suggest leaving decorating for other classroom activities, and the children concentrate on the thrill of making a kite that actually flys!
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We take Paypal on line (which includes card payments).

We take telephone card payments.  We take cheques posted to us.

We are happy to invoice schools.  Please make sure you include a school order number if your council requires an order.

If your kites will be paid for by your PTA, please make sure we have full contact details of the person who will eventually pay us.
